Job Title: Radiology Registered Nurse (Radiology RN)**
Job Summary:
A Radiology Registered Nurse (Radiology RN) provides specialized nursing care to patients undergoing diagnostic imaging procedures, such as X-rays, CT scans, MRIs, and other imaging modalities. The Radiology RN collaborates with radiologists, technologists, and other healthcare providers to ensure safe, comfortable, and efficient care during imaging procedures and ensures patient safety and well-being.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess and monitor patients’ health status before, during, and after radiology procedures, ensuring patient safety and comfort.
- Administer medications and contrast agents as prescribed, ensuring proper dosage and monitoring for adverse reactions.
- Prepare patients for imaging procedures, including explaining the process, answering questions, and addressing any concerns.
- Collaborate with radiologists and imaging technologists to ensure smooth coordination and delivery of imaging services.
- Monitor and document patients’ vital signs, including sedation and anesthesia management, during radiology procedures.
- Educate patients on post-procedure care, including post-sedation instructions, wound care, and any necessary follow-up.
- Recognize and respond to potential complications, including allergic reactions, sedation effects, or imaging-related issues.
- Ensure accurate documentation of patient assessments, medications administered, and imaging outcomes.
- Assist in preparing patients for contrast imaging procedures, such as MRI or CT, ensuring proper preparation and patient adherence.
- Support patients undergoing fluoroscopy, angiography, or other interventional imaging procedures.
- Maintain a sterile and safe environment, ensuring adherence to infection control protocols.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred; Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) accepted.
- Licensure:
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.
- Certification:
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) preferred
